Incision is an authorised Coverholder on behalf of insurers. This means that we have the direct authority to provide quotations, confirmation of coverage, and importantly settle claims much more efficiently than our competitors can.
Our exclusive policy wording is at the core of our offering. This has been written by Incision and our legal team, in line with our deep understanding of our members’ needs. We monitor our coverage closely which continuously evolves under our care, ensuring that our members are provided with the best protection available in the market.

Ian joined Paragon in July 2009 to establish the Healthcare and Life Science team. Incision Indemnity was created in 2010 and has grown year on year as our unique offerings have developed in line with our members’ needs. Ian has overall responsibility for the team and to ensure that Incision’s members are receiving the best-in-class products and services that are available in the market.
Naomi joined the Healthcare Team in 2009 as an Account Executive. With extensive knowledge of Medical Indemnity, Naomi now has overall responsibility for the operation of the Incision Indemnity Binding Authority and has vast experience of dealing with clients on a day-to-day basis.
Daena joined Paragon in 2017 and plays a pivotal role in the smooth running of the Incision scheme. She has a vast experience of dealing with clients’ requirements and liaising with Underwriters on a daily basis, utilising her wealth of knowledge to deliver a level of service exceeding our members’ expectations.
Callum joined Paragon in 2019 as an Account Executive, dealing with individual surgeons and UK Clinics. Callum had worked with Paragon since 2010 running a specialist indemnity scheme for doctors working within professional sport, gaining extensive knowledge in Medical Indemnity across all medical specialties with an expertise around sports medicine.
In 2016, Andy was invited to work with Paragon’s Healthcare and Life Science team as a Business Development Consultant for the Incision Indemnity scheme. His in-depth understanding of Medical Indemnity includes occurrence- based and claims made insurance.
Andy is a highly-motivated and energetic individual who brings over 20 years’ experience working in the Healthcare and Life Science sector. Having started his career in the pharmaceutical and medical device market, Andy went on to work for Bupa as a Commissioning Manager before making his move into the Medical Indemnity market.
David joined Paragon for the second time in 2011 as an Account Executive and Broker for the Healthcare and Life Science team, specialising in exposures for UK clinics, hospitals and individual surgeons. David originally started his career at Paragon back in 2005 as a trainee broker.
Alistair joined Paragon in 2010 and is responsible for all technical aspects of Paragon’s Healthcare and Life Science clients. This includes providing detailed review and analysis of coverage, programme structures and drafting of manuscript wordings to assist in the initial placement of risks. Following the placement of the programme, he supervises and co-ordinates premium payments, tax allocation, policy production and other servicing of the individual accounts, including ongoing analysis of coverage and troubleshooting. Alistair is also involved in the placement aspects of the individual accounts.
Fay joined Paragon in 2021 providing essential support for our members in the day-to-day admin of their policies. Gaining invaluable knowledge on the production of policy documentation, she applies this to her daily interactions with members, Underwriters and Lawyers to ensure we exceed the level of service our members have come to expect.
Incision Support Team
Michael is a dual qualified doctor and lawyer, with over 20 years’ medico-legal experience. Having practiced as a GP, Michael requalified as a lawyer in New South Wales, where he regularly acted in personal injury and clinical negligence cases, disciplinary matters and cases involving defective medical devices. Michael worked for the Medical Defence Union and Marketform as a Senior Medical Claims Handler where he was responsible for a variety of complex and high value claims.
Admitted to practise as a solicitor in NSW, England & Wales and a registered medical practitioner with the NSW Medical Board and GMC, Michael has been advising and supporting Incision members since January 2015.
Anahita qualified in Medicine from Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital having also obtained an intercalated BSc in Psychology. She trained in Psychiatry on the Southeast London rotation based at Guy’s Hospital up to Registrar level before moving into the area of Medico-legal work.
Anahita has been advising and assisting doctors with legal aspects of their clinical work for over 20 years and joined the Incision team in January 2020. She has also trained doctors in medico-legal work.
Ronnie is a dual qualified medical doctor and lawyer. He read Medicine at The University of Manchester and completed clinical rotations at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, as well as in general practice and clinical research. He then studied Law and qualified as a solicitor, working exclusively in the field of medical malpractice. As well as representing both claimants and defendants at large national law firms, Dr Ronnie held positions at Medical Protection, managing claims on behalf of members in the UK and South Africa. He also ran the medico-legal helpline for Incision members at DWF Claims before joining Incision Support. Passionate about education and ongoing development, Dr Ronnie has obtained an LLM Master of Laws in Medical Law and has prepared training webinars, articles and case studies.
Alex joined Paragon as a Trainee Claims Technician in 2010. Spending the first couple of years learning the trade, Alex gained valuable experience in a range of specialisms, including Healthcare, Lawyers Professional Liability and Architects & Engineers Professional Liability.
Promoted to Claims Account Executive in 2013, Alex began to focus on the medical world and in 2015 took the lead role in Healthcare Claims at Paragon. Over the past six years, Alex has developed relationships with insurers in the London market and with solicitor firms that specialise in the defence of medical malpractice claims. This has helped to ensure that clients secure the best possible representation when necessary.
Elizabeth joined Paragon International Insurance Brokers Ltd in February 2017 as a Claims Account Executive. As a qualified Solicitor, Elizabeth has 17 years of claims handling experience. Given Elizabeth’s experience, she handles Paragon’s portfolio of US General Liability accounts, as well as UK Professional Liability and Healthcare accounts, providing valuable assistance to clients in the advocacy of claims and coverage disputes.
Alec joined Paragon in 2019 having graduated with a First in International Relations from De Montfort University. Initially providing a supporting role to the Senior Claims Account Executives, Alec has since taken ownership of the new Plastic & Aesthetic cases while also having responsibility for much of the claims administrative function. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic so early in his career, Alec has managed to build relationships with our insurer and solicitor partners to help ensure that our clients have the best representation when required.
After reading Law at Cambridge, Joanne was called to the Bar in 2003 and her work in pupillage included many clinical negligence and high-value personal injury cases. She re-qualified as a solicitor in 2006, and since then has regularly defended clinical negligence claims and has excellent experience in resolving claims through the pre-action protocol, alternative dispute resolutions and through the courts.
Joanne always aims to understand whether a claim may affect the clinician’s professional reputation and takes pride in guiding clients who are unfamiliar with the legal process.
Joanne and the DWF team continue to provide legal assistance and support and she produces extensive risk management materials for Incision members.
